Heathers is such a Gen X jewel it cannot exist outside of those parameters. It's a perfect evisceration of my generational cohorts, it cannot be properly filtered through a current lens, I read that the parents in this adaptation actually show up.....just no.
It’s interesting: I didn’t see the short-lived, comparatively recent TV adaptation, but I wonder if the generational specificity you describe also prevented it from being successful.
Wait so the one actor just left at intermission??? Couldn't handle it herself? That made me laugh out loud. My friend's company produced it - we watched Heathers w Sam a few months ago as a result. Omg it does not work today... like you said.
Yeah, it happens now and then--usually because of an act one injury or an upset stomach. I've heard that Glenn Close (in the original Sunset Blvd.) and Ann Reinking (in the Chicago revival) had plenty of "act one only" performances.
Bernadette was robbed
Like she was a jewel at the Louvre: it was coordinated, deliberate, and an affront to both art and history
😂

A deeply satisfying review!
That genuinely means a lot coming from you!
